Coming back after a busy holiday can make any personal or professional obligation feel like sensory overload. Energy levels are often low and our productivity can remain at a lovely non-existence.
As the weather changes, so much of our priorities become reserved for staying warm and trying not to cry when the sun sets at 4:30. Our self-care practices take a back-seat, and even finding time to be alone for five minutes (to journal maybe?) feels like an infinitely daunting possibility. That’s why we’re here to help!

Poetry is a gentle reminder that words are powerful. We have the ability to change our outlook just by reshaping our perspectives; poetry does this by taking what our preconceptions of a word can mean, and mixing them with others to create a wonderful new way to look at the world.
Perhaps during these colder months try diversifying your reading shelf. Include new forms of literature as a way to find new authors and viewpoints. If you find an author a poem you like, write it on a sticky note and place it in your pocket. Sometimes, even just knowing it’s there can bring you a wonderful sense of grounding to bring you through your day.
