We are thrilled to announce that we are now distributing children’s picture books from Young Authors Publishing.
Atlanta-based Young Authors Publishing believes that all kids are story worthy. This groundbreaking nonprofit organization publishes books written by elementary and middle school children, many who live in under-served communities. Their publishing program is the perfect match for our ongoing strategic effort to acquire titles that showcase diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as serve as a platform for underrepresented voices.
“Young Authors Publishing (YAP) is very excited about partnering with West Margin Press in this way because it helps us broaden the reach of the books we publish by and for young people. I’m happy to be working with a publishing house that values books from diverse communities.”– Leah Hernandez, YAP Founder and Publisher, PW Star Watch 2020 Honoree
Young Authors Publishing creates books through a unique business model: Children are welcomed to an 3 month Experience Program. There, they work through a detailed creative writing course plan and are paired with a writing mentor. The work culminates with a professionally illustrated published book, which is available for sale wherever books are sold. A portion of book sales are put into a secured savings account for the child, helping them understand the fundamentals of financial literacy.
Young Authors Publishing will publish 9 new titles in Fall 2020 and 14 more are already available in bookstores and online channels. Learn more about their books HERE.
We’re excited to introduce you to some of these young authors and their new books here on our blog, so stay tuned!
