A Different Kind of Mother's Day Celebration
Mother’s Day may look and feel a bit different this year. Even with recommended guidelines of social distancing, it doesn’t mean we can’t show our moms and mother-figures some love by sending them a special gift on Mother’s Day. We’re excited to share a few ways you can still make this year’s Mother’s Day special.
Send Flowers and Support Small Business
We asked our resident floral expert, Cynthia Bigony, of the recently published book, Just Add Water, for her Mother’s Day recommendations. Cynthia, a mother herself, loves receiving flowers from her daughters when they’re away at college, and suggested a couple of her favorite florists who take orders.
A local San Francisco company called Farmgirl Flowers is a go-to when Cynthia needs flowers delivered that are both beautiful, and ethically sourced. She also uses a company called Pedal Driven for convenient, and beautiful bouquets, easily delivered.
D-I-Y Floral Arrangements
If you’re not able to send flowers, you can easily create your own! Cynthia recommends using what’s in your backyard to create something beautiful. Take a stroll through your neighborhood park and pick a few wildflowers that look pretty to you. Take them home and arrange them however you like – this is sure to make a unique, and personal bouquet. Write a homemade card and drop it off with the bouquet outside your loved one’s door.
Cynthia also recommends stocking up on a few simple “ingredients” during your next grocery store run to help turn an ordinary bouquet into something extraordinary. For more tips on how to do this, make sure to follow Cynthia on social media @justaddwaterflowers where she shares some easy ways to create a beautiful DIY flower arrangement.
Order Just Add Water!
Another great Mother’s Day gift idea is to send a copy of Cynthia’s new book filled with gorgeous photography and easy to follow steps on creating at-home floral arrangements. You can order the hard-copy, or download the e-book and start flower arranging today!
Make It Special
However you choose to celebrate Mother’s Day, whether you’re able to be with your loved ones or not, it’s always the thought that matters most. From sending beautiful flowers, to writing homemade cards, to hopping online for a virtual doodle session – there are still ways to make the day special in these strange times.
And don’t forget to share with us on social media (@westmarginpress) with what you come up with! We’d love to see your DIY bouquets and special creations!
